I Dare You Book Tag
I came across this tag at the Book Prescriptions blog and considered myself tagged because I loved the questions. It’s a bit longish but I hope you enjoy reading this!

Believe it or not, but the answer is none. I do eventually get to all the books I’ve set out for myself. It may take me months or years sometimes, but once I’ve decided, I do follow through.

Most definitely interesting. Over the years, I’ve found some great stuff written in Acknowledgment. I find them sweet and heartfelt, especially when a few writers take the time to explain the people they met while writing the book. It’s like a story about the story you just read.
WHICH BOOK CHARACTER WOULD YOU SWITCH PLACES WITH?
Oh, way too many to count so I’m gonna cheat. From the top of my head and in no order of priority: Eve Dallas, Hermoine Granger, Miradel, Kate Daniels, Evangeline Jenner, Philippa Marbury, Elena Deveraux, Nahri, Amelia Hathaway, Sara Fielding, Elara Harper, Mercedes Thompson. I’m sure there are more but these are the ones that come to mind at the moment. Are you familiar with any of these characters?
DO YOU HAVE A BOOK THAT REMINDS YOU OF SOMETHING SPECIFIC IN YOUR LIFE? [PLACE, TIME, PERSON?]
Summer of 2001, the first time I read this book. It was a difficult time. The first summer after my grandmother passed away. I was between Harry Potter’s at the time, rereading old ones and desperately waiting for the new.
This book – a raw story about love and loss – helped me through that time. It’s my favorite book my Marquez. Even the genius of Solitude can’t beat it for me.
NAME A BOOK YOU ACQUIRED IN AN INTERESTING WAY?
The first 15 books of the In Death Series by J. D. Robb. I came across Reunion in Death by accident and fell for the world and the characters. Mum saw my craziness and during an out-of-town business trip, returned with a suitcase full of as many In Death’s she could find as an early birthday present. Unfortunately, we lost all those copies and over three hundred other books during moving – rain got into the storage and termites took the rest.
HAVE YOU EVER GIVEN A BOOK AWAY FOR A SPECIAL REASON TO A SPECIAL PERSON?
To my brother. Clothbound Penguin Classic Editions of Nietzsche and Schopenhauer. They are two of favorite philosophers and when I found these books on a trip abroad, I knew I had to get them for him.
WHICH BOOK HAS BEEN WITH YOU MOST PLACES?
There’s not one in particular but before ebooks came along, I used to carry old copies of any novel by Judith McNaught/Nora Roberts/Rowling/Sanderson/Gaiman. The most traveled copies would be the Harry Potter books and Something Wonderful by Judith McNaught.
ANY REQUIRED READING YOU HATED IN HIGH SCHOOL THAT WASN’T SO BAD TWO YEARS LATER?
Believe me when I say, none. I loved all my required reading and was that nerd who read them all before school started. I was usually asked to sit quiet in all my Lit classes [English, Urdu and Sindhi] because the teachers knew I’d spoil the book for everyone else. Fun times!
USED OR BRAND NEW?
Both, but I prefer new. I do inspect the condition of used books before buying though. Broken spines can be tolerated but I do not dog-ear or highlight so I’m picky that way.
HAVE YOU EVER READ A DAN BROWN BOOK?
Yas! Every single one of them. My favorites are Inferno and Angels and Demons. I found Origin lackluster and while the plots are becoming predictable and stretched, I still enjoy reading Professor Langdon.
HAVE YOU EVER READ A BOOK THAT’S MADE YOU HUNGRY, COOK BOOKS INCLUDED?
A few contemporary rom-coms. I don’t read cookbooks.
WHO IS THE PERSON WHOSE BOOK ADVICE YOU’LL ALWAYS TAKE?
I usually get my recommendations from the bookstagram community online.
IS THERE A BOOK OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE [OUTSIDE YOUR USUAL READING GENRE] THAT YOU ENDED UP LOVING?
It’s a ghost story and while I usually avoid those, I ended up adoring and raving about this one like a lunatic to anybody who’d listen.
